Prof. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen

Xuemin (Sherman) Shen (M’97–SM’02–F’09) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, USA, in 1990. He is a University Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada. His research focuses on network resource management, wireless network security, Internet of Things, 5G and beyond, and vehicular networks. Dr. Shen is a registered Professional Engineer of Ontario, Canada, an Engineering Institute of Canada Fellow, a Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellow, a Royal Society of Canada Fellow, a Chinese Academy of Engineering Foreign Member, and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society and Communications Society.
Dr. Shen received the Canadian Award for Telecommunications Research from the Canadian Society of Information Theory (CSIT) in 2021, the R.A. Fessenden Award in 2019 from IEEE, Canada, Award of Merit from the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (Ontario) in 2019, James Evans Avant Garde Award in 2018 from the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, Joseph LoCicero Award in 2015 and Education Award in 2017 from the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), and Technical Recognition Award from Wireless Communications Technical Committee (2019) and AHSN Technical Committee (2013). He has also received the Excellent Graduate Supervision Award in 2006 from the University of Waterloo and the Premier’s Research Excellence Award (PREA) in 2003 from the Province of Ontario, Canada. He served as the Technical Program Committee Chair/Co-Chair for IEEE Globecom’16, IEEE Infocom’14, IEEE VTC’10 Fall, IEEE Globecom’07, and the Chair for the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Wireless Communications. Dr. Shen is the President Elect of the IEEE ComSoc. He was the Vice President for Technical & Educational Activities, Vice President for Publications, Member-at-Large on the Board of Governors, Chair of the Distinguished Lecturer Selection Committee, and Member of IEEE Fellow Selection Committee of the ComSoc. Dr. Shen served as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE IoT JOURNAL, IEEE Network, and IET Communications.

Prof. Ce Zhu

Ce Zhu has been with University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, as a Professor since 2012, and serves as the Dean of Glasgow College, a joint school between the University of Glasgow, UK and UESTC, China. His research interests include video coding and communications, video analysis and processing, 3D video, visual perception and applications. He has served on the editorial boards of a dozen journals, including as an Associate Editor of IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON IMAGE PROCESSING, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR VIDEO TECHNOLOGY, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON BROADCASTING, IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING LETTERS, an Editor of IEEE COMMUNICATIONS SURVEYS AND TUTORIALS, and an Area Editor of SIGNAL PROCESSING: IMAGE COMMUNICATION. He has also served as a Guest Editor of multiple special issues in international journals, including as a Guest Editor in the IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING.
Prof. Zhu is an IEEE/Optica/IET/AAIA Fellow. He serves as the Chair of IEEE ICME Steering Committee (2024-2025). He was an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer of Circuits and Systems Society (2019-2020), and also an APSIPA Distinguished Lecturer (2021-2022). He is a co-recipient of multiple paper awards at international conferences, including the most recent Best Demo Award in IEEE MMSP 2022, and the Best Paper Runner Up Award in IEEE ICME 2020.

Prof. Hamid Reza Karimi

Hamid Reza Karimi received the B.Sc. (First Hons.) degree in power systems from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1998, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. (First Hons.) degrees in control systems engineering from the University of Tehran, Tehran, in 2001 and 2005, respectively. Since 2016, he has been an associate professor of Applied Mechanics with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy. His current research interests include control systems and mechatronics with applications to automotive control systems, vibration systems, robotics and wind energy.
Prof. Karimi is a Member of Academia Europa (MAE), Distinguished Fellow of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV), Fellow of The International Society for Condition Monitoring (ISCM), Member of Agder Academy of Science and Letters and also a member of the IFAC Technical Committee on Mechatronic Systems, the IFAC Technical Committee on Robust Control, and the IFAC Technical Committee on Automotive Control. He is serving as Chief Editor, Subject Editor, Technical Editor or Associate Editor for some International Journals and Book Series Editor for Springer, CRC Press and Elsevier.
